Zambelli Fireworks Wins Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival in Calgary
Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival, a part of GlobalFest in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
“We are very excited to be recognized on such a big stage for our fireworks display,” says Chairman of Zambelli Fireworks Dr. George Zambelli Jr. “Our team is the best in the world at what they do and it is an honor to receive recognition for their creativity and craftsmanship against such fantastic competition. This competition was an entire company, team-wide effort and I am so proud of their accomplishments.”
The 2016 International Fireworks Festival featured presentations produced by world-class pyromusical artists hailing this year from the Americas – Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and the USA, and culminated with the announcement of the winner of the competition and with GlobalFest’s own spectacular Finale presentation by Canada on Saturday night. Each country represented was assigned one night to showcase their best fireworks display. They were judged on several criteria, including: quality of display, originality of the artistic concept (the choice of music and staging), brilliance and richness of colors used, including at least 25% of music native to the country represented in the performance, and synchronization (the precision of the marriage between music, sound effects, and fireworks). Each team was also required to include “Viaje Vibrante,” which was composed by Donovan Seidle exclusively for GlobalFest.

Zambelli’s award-winning show representing the United States took place on Thursday, August 25. Created by Operations/Design Choreographer Zach Taminosian, “Chimera” as it was entitled, looked to “breathe pyrotechnic life into the fantastic creatures, worlds and emotions created solely within our own imaginations.” It included music from the movies How to Train Your Dragon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland, pieces from artists as diverse as Icelandic pop indie folk band Of Monsters and Men, piano film scorers Secession Studios and violinist Lindsey Stirling.
A feat of this nature requires a huge support system, which is exactly what Taminosian had from the entire Zambelli Fireworks family. “I would really like to stress though how much of a team effort this was. Our five-person team and the rest of the plant did an absolutely amazing job getting the show picked, tied, packed, and shipped at a very busy time,” he says. “On site we faced some very big challenges due weather-related issues. I can’t thank the crew who were with us in Calgary enough for battling through that terrible weather and helping get the show in the air. They were truly awesome crew members to have there.”

Dr. Zambelli explains, “Zambelli Fireworks started out as the dream of fireworks artist and Italian immigrant Antonio Zambelli who brought his pyrotechnic dream to New Castle PA in 1893.” Since that time three generations of the family have formed the team that has built a network of thousands of annual clients based on hard work, honesty, loyalty, commitment to safety and proof of performance every time. As the nation’s premier fireworks company, and one of the largest in the world, our team has entertained Presidents, Popes, world leaders and audiences around the globe.
